Turbine Details : Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) : The combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plant introduced to the UK in the early 1990s had efficiencies of over 50%,compared to the best conventional coal-fired plant efficiencies of 38%. These CCGT efficiencies have increased steadily over the past 10 years as a result of intense development in gas turbine technology, characterised by increases in machine output and higher firing temperatures, new low NOx burner designs, advanced cooling methods, improved compressor and turbine aerodynamics and new blade materials and coatings. Not surprisingly, the rapid introduction of any advanced power generating technology can lead to new problems which have to be overcome if high plant availability & Thermal efficiencies of power plant is to be obtained and maintained. |
